FAQ

We are a resource recovery enterprise on a mission to build a world without waste. We do this by partnering with government bodies, brands, and the informal waste sector. We enable businesses to take action to stop plastic pollution & meet Sustainable Development Goals by supporting one of our services.

After the waste is collected, it is sent to our Material Recovery Facility in Dahisar. The waste is then segregated by our Safai Saathis where it is cleaned, processed and bailed. This processed waste is then sent out to recyclers who convert it into plastic granules. The granules are then converted to new products.

We do not give money benefits. Instead, the proceeds generated from your waste will be donated to St. Catherine of Siena School and Orphanage and will be used for the welfare of the children.

Individual households, societies, schools, colleges and offices can participate in the drive. Anyone and everyone is welcome to create an Impact with us!

Yes businesses, offices, co-working spaces, schools & colleges, and other institutions can register in bulk or encourage their employees to register individually.

Ensure that all your dry waste is clean and dry. Glass items should be wrapped in a newspaper to ensure the safety of our Safai Saathis. If you are sending us textiles, ensure they are kept separate from the dry waste.

Our Volunteers will come to your doorstep with gunny bags to ensure a seamless collection process.

We encourage every household to contribute more than 10kgs to reduce the carbon footprint and maximise environmental impact.

Mumbai’s Largest Diwali Dry-Waste Recovery Drive

Every Diwali, Mumbaikars turn the ritual of Diwali ki Safai into a citywide movement. In four years we’ve recovered 75,000+ kg of dry waste. This year we’re going bigger, bolder, and closer to the communities that power this city. Because the city that never sleeps is also the city that never wastes.

What you need to know

Drive dates and area

Drive dates: Saturday, 4 October – Tuesday, 14 October
Location: Central & Western Mumbai, Navi Mumbai

Who can participate

Individuals, residential societies, schools, colleges, corporates, and co-working spaces.

What we collect (dry recyclables)

  • Paper

  • Plastic

  • Metal

  • Glass

  • E-waste (small electronics)

  • Textiles (clothes, bed linen)

  • Footwear

  • Utensils

Do not include: mattresses, construction debris, wooden items.

How the drive works

Step 1 — Register

A single representative (society, school, or office) fills the registration form on behalf of the group. Individuals can register directly.

Step 2 — Prepare your materials

Consolidate dry recyclables at a single, designated spot inside your premises. If collecting from homes, ask residents to bundle items neatly and keep them ready by the entrance.

Step 3 — Collection day

On the scheduled day our specialized vehicle will visit your premises to collect the materials. Please ensure items are sorted and accessible for a faster pickup.

Step 4 — Impact

All proceeds from the drive fund education and essentials for children at St. Catherine of Siena School & Orphanage.

Guidelines and key points

Minimum contribution

We request each household to contribute a minimum of 10 kg of dry recyclables. This helps streamline collections and increases impact.

Representative registration

Only one person needs to register for a building, school, or office. That person will coordinate with our team for the pickup schedule.

Preparation checklist

  • Sort dry recyclables by category where possible.

  • Remove food waste or wet residue from items.

  • Keep items in bags or boxes and place them at the agreed collection point.

  • Do not mix prohibited items (mattresses, wood, debris).

Frequently asked questions

Can individuals outside societies register?

Yes. Individuals can register directly and we’ll share the nearest collection window.

Will you pick up large e-waste items?

We accept small e-waste (phones, chargers, small appliances). For large appliances, please mention details at registration so we can advise.

What happens to the collected materials?

Materials are sorted, processed, and routed to verified recycling partners. Proceeds support St. Catherine of Siena School & Orphanage.

Why join? What this really means

Here’s the thing: a small action from each household scales into a citywide impact. Ten kilos per home adds up fast — it reduces landfill, powers local recycling livelihoods, and funds education in our city.
